YOUR CHALLENGE

In large series, everything hinges on unit price and consistency

The right turning shop, the right machine (cam or CNC), the right material, the capability that holds over 100,000 parts: every detail weighs on your cost and quality.

CadNov

chooses and steers for you.

Choosing the right process, not just a supplier

We know precision turning and its heartland (Arve Valley, Oyonnax). We steer your part toward the technology that gives the best cost at equal quality, and we inspect in France.

Material and machinability advice (including lead-free / RoHS grades)

  • Cam / CNC / multi-spindle trade-off by volume
  • Optimization of secondary operations
  • Sourcing of qualified, monitored workshops
  • Coordination of heat and surface treatments
  • Receiving inspection in France, traceability and reports

Swiss-type lathe (sliding headstock)

01

Tour poupée mobile (Swiss)

Pièces longues et élancées, petits diamètres, haute précision. Le cœur du décolletage.

02

Fixed-headstock lathe

Pièces courtes et de plus gros diamètre, reprises intégrées.

03

Multi-spindle (CNC and cam)

Très grande série, cadence maximale, coût unitaire le plus bas.

04

Single-spindle CNC lathes

Pièces complexes, changements de série rapides, moyennes séries.

05

Secondary operations

Perçage transversal, fraisage, taraudage, roulage de filet, moletage.

06

Finishing

Deburring, washing, vibratory finishing, optical sorting, packaging.

Indicative capacities
(by workshop): Ø 0.5 to 32 mm on sliding-headstock, up to ~65 mm on fixed-headstock. Confirm your part envelope.

MATERIALS

Grades with good machinability for large series — with or without lead depending on your regulatory constraints.

Free-cutting steels

Heat-treatable steels

C45, 42CrMo4, case-hardening steels 16MnCr5 / 20MnCr5.

Stainless steel

303 (free-cutting), 304 / 304L, 316L, 316Ti, 17-4PH.

Brasses

CuZn39Pb3 (CW614N) and

lead-free brasses

(CuZn21Si3P) for drinking water / RoHS.

Aluminum · Bronze · Copper

Alu 2011 / 6262, bronzes, copper (connectors).

Titanium and specials

Titanium, superalloys: on request depending on application.
Regulatory guide:

for automotive, electronics, drinking water or medical, prefer

  • lead-free
  • grades. We guide you according to the applicable directive (RoHS, REACH, ACS).
  • TOLERANCES AND INSPECTION
  • Tight diameter tolerances (IT6–IT7, down to a few µm)

Fine surface finishes controlled in turning

  • Rolled threads (stronger) or cut threads
  • High output without dimensional drift
  • Inspection
  • Statistical control (SPC) and Cpk capability
100% optical sorting possible on critical dimensions

Cut unit cost from the drawing

Machinable material

A well-chosen free-cutting grade increases output and lowers the price.

Limit secondary operations

Each off-machine secondary operation adds cost. Group them.

Useful tolerances

Only tighten functional dimensions. The rest in ISO 2768.

Rolled threads

Low-resistance noble contact

Prefer rolling over cut threading: stronger, faster.

Reasonable slenderness

Very long, thin parts vibrate: allow for clearances.

Stated volume

Give the real annual quantity: it determines the machine and the price.
