CadNov recommends DLP. Maximum resolution (0.025–0.05 mm), impeccable finish, 1 to 2 days lead time. Castable DLP resin also creates the model for lost-wax casting (jewelry).

CadNov recommends high-resolution SLA or PolyJet. SLA offers the best finish for complex shapes. PolyJet allows a rigid + soft two-material combination in the same part.

CadNov recommends CNC plastic machining. The only process that works in exact ABS, PA, PEEK or PTFE. Accuracy ±0.05 mm.

CadNov recommends PMMA or PC machining + optical polishing. The only process achieving Ra < 0.1 µm transparency, identical to glass. SLA gives an acceptable transparent, but not optical.

CadNov recommends two-material vacuum casting. Two successive PU castings in the same silicone mold exactly reproduce injection overmolding. 6 to 10 days lead time, 5 to 20 parts, all colors. Mold cost < €2,000.

CadNov recommends SLS. No supports needed — integrated hinges and interlocking assemblies possible directly. PA12 or PA+GF30. Runs of 10 to 200 parts.

ABS part 1,200×800 mm, ergonomics validation, paint finish

CadNov recommends multi-block ABS machining. Part split into machined sub-assemblies, structural bonding, joint sanding, anti-UV paint finish. Result identical to an injected part — with no mold investment. 2 to 3 weeks lead time.

Same part in 8 different colors, small undercuts

CadNov recommends vacuum casting. Pigments integrated into the PU mass — any RAL or Pantone reference. The silicone mold handles small undercuts. Each casting can change color at no tooling surcharge.

CadNov recommends RIM with aluminum mold. Integrated slides for complex undercuts (as in plastic injection). Rigid PU or structural foam. Aluminum mold €10–30 k. Sanding + RAL paint included in the quote.

Real production material (ABS, PP, PA, PC…) — parts meeting production requirements — validation before industrialization

CadNov recommends plastic injection with aluminum or steel cavities. For 300 to 1,000 parts, it’s time to invest in a prototype mold — aluminum for the smallest runs (€5–30 k), steel for longer runs (€20–80 k). Result: the real final material, the real cycle time, the real tolerances, the real surface finishes. It’s the final validation step before ordering the production mold.

Pre-production plastic injection — 300 to 1,000+ parts in the real material

CadNov integrates pre-series plastic injection into its prototyping offer. For runs of 300 to 1,000 parts, injection with aluminum or steel cavities becomes the reference technology: real production material, real surface finish, real tolerances. It’s the process that definitively validates the product before ordering the production mold.

Pre-series plastic injection follows the logical continuity of prototyping: you start with SLA to validate aesthetics, move to CNC machining to validate mechanical function, then order aluminum cavities to validate production. CadNov supports every step.

Aluminum cavities — pre-series 100 to 500 parts

The starting choice. Mold machined in 7075 aluminum — cost €5,000 to 30,000 depending on complexity. Lifespan 500 to 5,000 parts depending on the injected material. Precision and surface finish comparable to a steel mold for most applications. Manufacturing lead time 4 to 6 weeks. Modifications possible at lower cost (aluminum easy to rework).

Ideal for: first injection in real material, assembly validation, mechanical and thermal tests, snap-fit test, homologation.

Steel cavities — run 300 to 10,000+ parts

The bridge to production. Mold machined in P20 or H13 steel — cost €20,000 to 80,000. Lifespan 10,000 to 100,000+ parts. Surface finish and tolerances identical to the production mold. Lead time 6 to 10 weeks. It’s the last investment before the high-volume production mold.

Ideal for: commercial pre-series, product launch, client validation, small commercial run.

Accepted file formats

STEP (.stp), IGES (.igs), STL (.stl), SolidWorks (.sldprt), CATIA, 3MF, OBJ. 2D dimensioned drawing (PDF or DXF) accepted for simple parts. CadNov prepares the file if needed.

Innovation Tax Credit (CII) — CadNov approved by the French Ministry (MESR)
