QUALITY AND CERTIFICATIONS

Welding must be proven

Depending on your part's criticality (load-bearing structure, pressure, safety), we source workshops at the required qualification level.

EN ISO 3834

Quality requirements for fusion welding.

EN 1090

CE marking of steel / aluminum structures (mandatory for load-bearing).

Qualified welders

EN ISO 9606 qualification by process and position.

WPS / WPQR

Qualified welding procedures.

NDT

Dye penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography, ultrasonics.

Traceability

Material certificates, inspection reports, welding file.

Regulatory guide: for any load-bearing structure, CE EN 1090 marking is mandatory. We steer your part to a workshop at the right level — neither under- nor over-qualified.

Which heat treatment after welding?

In welded assembly, the subject is not hardness but the control of stresses and distortion. CadNov defines the treatment depending on the part.

Order of operations: weld → stress-relieve → machine the bearing surfaces. Reversing it risks the part moving after machining. Clamping and the welding sequence limit distortion at the source.

To anticipate: shot blasting is required before any quality painting. Hot-dip galvanizing protects best but can distort large assemblies — we account for it from the design stage.
DESIGN TIPS

Design for welding to cut cost and distortion

Accessible welds

An inaccessible bead is expensive or becomes unfeasible.

Symmetry

Symmetrical welds limit warping.

Machining allowance

Allow extra material on the bearing surfaces to be reworked.

Limit the beads

Less welding = less distortion and cost.

Realistic tolerances

Don't demand machining tolerances on raw welds.

Right inspection level

Radiographic NDT everywhere is costly: target the critical beads.
